Hello Summer! For us summer has officially begun, the pool is open, fire hydrants have been flushed through, the grand kids have played and played outside until their filthy and exhausted.
Whitney was amazed at the water coming out of the hydrant (Isaac was napping.) She talked about it all night. The fireman made quite the impression on her, he held her hand to bring her through water spraying out, she was in awe.
The flower beds have been weeded and mulched and a new bed had been made in Ryan's memorial garden out of the pond, it was just a little pond but the poor little thing stayed dirty and green so I decided to fill it in (phew what a job!) and plant a new rose bush, stone crop and hostas. I decided to tackle this task over memorial day weekend so it's quite fitting that the new rose bush is named "Memorial Day" it smells so good Robin and I both got one! I am going to try to propagate my roses this summer, I'll let you know how it goes.
We also have been practicing with our new camera, We got this "trio" shot of the little beauties, We love it even though we couldn't get them all to cooperate as well as we would have liked it still turned out adorable!
Our First Peony Bloom
Wow this was exciting "Papa Bear"- (my husband, Robin's dad) planted these, he got them from his mother that were passed down to her from her grandmother, so these are very special! They're his little babies, haha Papa Bear is a perfectionist so I'm sure he will tend to these peonies well and we will enjoy the fruits of his labor for years to come. My hope is to one day have a cutting garden with flowers that smell amazing. I'm trying to talk Papa into that this summer so it will be fully ready next year! Wouldn't it be great to have fresh beautiful smelling flowers in vases all summer long!! I'll keep you updated! =]
Nothing runs like a deere, but its just a mower! Our little ones love love love to ride with Papa on the John Deere, especially Isaac! He can't even start it without bubba having a near melt down wanting to ride, it is pretty cute though, so he always gets his way. Maybe it will pay off and the little guy will be a master mower haha! Papa would love to let him take over the grass cutting.
Another great start to summer was a graduation party, my sister graduated from IU Yay! She is officially a Social worker, we are all pretty stink'in proud of her. Her party was to much fun! We got to visit with family and friends that we haven't seen in a while, played bag toss and ate some fantastic food, as her fiance is a chef extraordinaire --Seriously he is amazing-- Hopefully he will allow us to post some of his recipes some day! But... we shall see! Her party was one of many great kick offs to summer!
Rachael & Randee are my two daughters and Robin's sisters, they both came home for Memorial day so we could have the whole family together!. Rachael came home from North Carolina for the holiday and to meet the newest member of our family, Natalie, Randee's second baby girl. Natalie might just be my first decedent to have blue eyes!! --How Exciting-- I love when everyone is home at the same time! It has become a little challenging with Rachael living in North Carolina and Randee living in Indiana to get every one together at the same time, so when we are, look out we take lots of pics and plan lots of activities which leads to lots to blog about!!
This was a most exciting moment, as we were taking pics and admiring Papa's first peony bloom the UPS man pulled down our street with our NEW COMPUTER!! As Whitney would say "It is our happy day." We have been waiting for nearly a month & we haven't been able to do much on our blog without it so we are in business now!!
Anywhoo.. Summer has started with a bang and it is great! Thank you Jesus for all your blessings!
