How I renovated my pop up camper All the details!

D I Y, S U M M E RRobin Saylor

Hi Guys! In words I am going to try to take you on the journey of us buying and renovating our 1999 Vickings popup camper! I had so much fun with this project, It probably is my favorite so far!.

Here is what we started with, everything was really fancy fabrics, green and wood. Attractive right!

We started just scrubbing everything down. If it had a surface we scrubbed it down with some good old dawn dish soap and warm water. Then we went on to primering everything cabinets, floor, tables, counters. I used Kilz kitchen & bath (linked below) Kilz original is fine too but the kitchen and bath primer I have used a lot and I love it. When I say I primed everything I literally almost primed everything lol. I started with all of the cabinets, then I primed the counter tops, table I also primed the dinette area floor. Then I did 2 coats of white latex paint on everything, cabinets, floor, and counter tops & table. On the counter tops and table I did a coat of epoxy which is a two part deal but I feel like it needed that extra protection because of the heavy traffic that they get. That was a little bit intense to do, if you’ve never done it before make sure you read the instructions. I do love how they turned out with the epoxy on them. It finishes like a glass finish.

The next picture is the sofa sleeper that originally came in our pop up. I really wanted to take this out completely and put a new one in, but I was trying to be very cost savvy on this project especially since we only paid $200 for the whole pop up. So I read a lot of tutorials on painting fabric and thought what could it hurt, if I ruined it I would just get a new one like i wanted anyway. So I got a can of rustoleum chalked in linen white and did one layer. I rolled it on with a little smooth finish roller. I did one layer and I was amazed at it’s coverage. After the first layer dried I took 120 grit sand paper block and sanded over the whole entire surface. It made it very smooth to the touch. Then I did a second coat and sanded again. I am still amazed at how well it turned out I painted my dining top cushions as well. Painting them almost turns the fabric into a vinyl feeling so you can wipe it off easily. I love love love them!. I would recommend doing it to any one! I get the question all the time, really white?? But with every thing painted you can wipe it right down with no worries!

The floor that I used was also pretty inexpensive, I got the peel and stick vinyl planks from lowes, they are sold by each piece, they are $1.29 each and I think I used 30 pieces. If I can do this guys, you can too. It was so easy to do, and the outcome is so pretty. It makes such a huge difference in our pop up. I feel like the new floor was a huge game changer.

When we originally got this pop up we had to replace the piece of wood in the picture below because the sink must have leaked and ruined that whole piece of wood that was under the sink. That was the hardest part about this project.

The floor stencil! I love love love the floor stencil! I have used this floor stencil so many times. I used this in my house, we have used it on some walls, and now we are doing it in our campers lol!. I thought this was a nice transition to make the dinette area look a little bit separated. I primed the floor with the kitchen and bath kilz, Then I painted with some grab and go wal mart latex paint, (honestly because I already had it in the house) Then I stenciled it up with some black paint.

The table legs, the cute good will find lamp and all the hard ware I sprayed with rustoleum metallic Gold spray paint.

For the curtains, I don’t know if you could see in the before pictures but there was valances and curtains around the whole entire camper. I took all of them down and they were hung by these little clips on a track. I cut off all of the clips off of the old curtains and glued them onto these knew curtains with some good old E6000 glue. This glue is the bomb.com for real! I love it. I did cut these curtains to length and then sewed the bottom of them, but in the package of the curtains they were meant to be cut to size so it came with glue on hem strips where you could cut them to size and then fold where you would have sewed it but instead of sewing it you just iron those strips in the hem. Thinking back on this project that probably would have been way easier! lol.

The newest addition to our pop up was this light over our kitchen table. I love the way it looks and thought that this area needed a little pretty pretty for the space. I used a swag light kit from amazon you can choose pretty much any color, I just did black and the dome part is a food dome from home goods, I just loved the way that it looked, and it even had a little loop to hang from, It was like it was made for this! lol! This is not the exact dome but here is one that is similar to the one I used below, That one is pretty salty in price, I paid $10 for the one I found at home goods.

And of course you have to have your happy camper sign!! For All and all with a little bit of labor you can transform your camper for not that much money.

All paint- $70 (kilz, latex paint, chalk paint, metallic gold spray paint and black paint)

Epoxy- $25

Floors- $65 peel and stick vinyl planks

Light swag kit & dome- $25

Floor stencil- $20

Curtains- Ikea 3 sets $45

So for around $250 you can renovate a pop up camper, That is not for any of the decor, Honestly since I have to take every thing out of it every time we are done camping I just bring all of my stuff from inside my house and decorate it lol!.

You guys! One last thing that I have to share with you! I took before and after pictures of this spray that I bought to clean our canvas and I am seriously amazed! When we bought our pop up there was a huge stain on one of the sides of the beds, but I sprayed RMR-86 mildew spray on it and right before my eyes it was completely gone. I literally watched it fade away. I am still amazed! If you have a pop up I feel this is a product that is a must have!

I hope you guys have enjoyed seeing my pop up transformation!

Keto Chicken fried cauli-rice

I’m not a fan of having to read a whole story before I get to a recipe so in an effort to treat others as I would like to be treated, here’s the list of ingredients for this recipe.

Less than 30 minutes prep and cook.

1 bag of fresh or frozen riced cauliflower

1carrot pealed and diced (not Keto but it’s a small amount)

1/2 small onion chopped (also not Keto but also a small amount)

4 ribs celery chopped

1-2 tbsp chopped garlic

4 tbsp avacado oil

1 -2 tsp sesame oil (to taste)

2-3 tbsp Bragg amino acids, this is a replacement for soy sauce (to taste)

2 chicken breast sliced thin

2 eggs

S & P (to taste)

IMG_1226.jpeg

I use a 12 inch skillet and I add the avacado oil and then the carrot, celery, onion & garlic and I sauté for a few minutes till softened and then I add the thin sliced chicken breast and cook til done, then I add the bag of riced cauliflower and the amino acids and sesame oil and both of these are to taste, when the cauli is warm I pull it all back and make a whole in the center of the mix and add the two eggs and I let them start cooking a little a start scrambling them in the center, after they start to cook a little I mix them all in the the whole dish add the salt and pepper and cover and cook for about 3-5 minutes until the eggs are done. When I serve this dish I top with dried chives and I also put the amino acids on the table so that we can add more if we’d like.

I have my vegetables and chicken already chopped and sliced and ready to add.

I cook the vegetables about half way, just softened and then I add the chicken.

You can used fresh or frozen riced cauliflower, I use both and I’m happy with either. Another good thing about this recipe is that you can double it or add more cauliflower or more chicken to stretch it and it always tastes good.

This is the pet that I do exactly like this every time, I’ve tried to just crack the eggs and stir them in and it’s just not the same, and I actually don’t like it if I just mix them in.

This is the finish product and the chives really add some depth to this, I highly recommend garnishing with it.

I have also swapped out refined coconut oil in this dish and it tastes the same, I wouldn’t use olive oil though unless you’re in a bind.

Cocnut oil and avacado oil have a high heat tolerance when cooking and recommended for Keto. I usually get avacado oil at Homegoods or Tj Maxx, you can also get it at Whole Foods or online. Coconut oil can be bought at most any grocery store.

Refined coconut does not taste like coconut.

Unrefined coconut oil tastes like coconut.

Avacado oil has no flavor or very little taste.

I hope you enjoy this recipe, we make this on repeat and I always love it and look forward to the leftovers the next day.

Robin's House tour

HOUSE TOURSTracy & Robin13 Comments

Here is my house tour! (this is Robin by the way) I figured I would start out with some before and afters of when we first bought our house! We have come a long way! After I put these collages together I realized that we really have done a lot!

before and after 2small.jpg

So Here is the Actual start of my House tour!. This is my Living room slash Kitchen area. Before, I am still searching for a picture but there use to be a wall separating the two and as soon as we moved in we figured the wall had to go! It is made it so nice for us to all enjoy our time together in one big room. I have come to the conclusion that back in the 70's they really liked there walls!

This is The Beauty Shop!

I did in the past go to Douglas J. Aveda Institute and got my license, and since I solely do signs now I figured I needed my own space to still enjoy the art of doing hair!. We have made a lot of use out of this room since there are so many girls in my family this is our spot to come down and relax while I do all the work! Haha just kidding I love it down here as well! Behind the curtains is our sewing/craft room! But we had a lot of stuff going on back there so I thoughtI would spare your eyes the mess!

Here is just one lonely picture of my bathroom but, I love waking up to this it gives me motivation for the day =] I have a lot of updating to do in here so someday I will have before and after pics on here of this!

Here's my Bedroom. These two pictures I love so much, one is painted by my mom and one is painted by me. They are copies of the blue nude by Picaso.  Although they are very different from his (because he was amazing) but we though we would give it a try! =]

Whitney's Room. I just love her room, a lot of times I will just go in there and lay on the bed and stare at how cute it is! This room has so many things that people bought for her and were able to display in her room, She has done so much healing after losing Ryan she was just what our family needed as she is the first grandchild on my side of the family. She also joined into my niece's and nephews on Isaac's side of the family (my husband). Another cool thing, when I was pregnant for her my two sister in laws were also pregnant with babies as well so she has some very very close cousins!

Isaac & Cole's Bedroom. I had so much fun decorating this room for them. It is a tiny room but we managed to fit so much in here for them! I love the tribal theme that people are coming out with and I just had to have a little bit of it in my house! The closet did end up having a dresser in it for Cole, but I did some extra little things in there so they can still hang some stuff up! I do still want to add some more storage components in there but for now this is what it is! =] Also when we first moved in the little door in his room really creeped me out but now I love it the outside of the door is a chalk board so the kids can write on it and they play in there all the time. They Love it!

Well that is the end of my house tour! I hope you enjoyed and leave some feedback I am always up to doing something new! Thank you for looking!

Come see up the Wicker Houses 6th link party! =] Get inspired!
